A process undertaken by potential investors -- individuals or institutions (frequently including bank lenders) -- to analyze and assess the desirability, value, and potential of an investment opportunity in a company or project financing in order to ensure that there are no undisclosed or potential problems. This covers financial, legal, technical, and insurance aspects of an investment or project.
